Around 45, I started to hit a wall with my workouts and nutrition. I found myself exhausted by the training that at one time fueled me, but now left me feeling sad and depressed at how it wasn't working the same any longer. Not unlike so many midlife women with the same story, I started gaining body fat with no changes to my diet or exercise.
As a trainer, I've relied on fitness for years to help save me in difficult moments, but the stress of life's challenges, including perimenopause, motherhood, and personal loss often left me feeling like I was crumbling inside, rather than rising to new heights. Something had to give and I wasn't getting help anywhere I turned.
A wake-up call came in the form of a photo. It revealed the stark reality of how far I had strayed from my path of wellness. I looked in the mirror and saw a person I barely recognized - drained, stressed, full of sorrow, and losing the grip on my well-being. I knew I had to make a change. That's when I decided to shed the narrative of the overworked, exhausted businesswoman and mother.I knew at that moment it was time to let go of my (valid) but tired excuses and begin to RISE above the challenges and become the person I know myself to be deep inside.
